Nepal after pandemic
The Government of Nepal had planned for an ambitious program for 2020, which was called Visit Nepal 2020. The main objective of the program was to promote the wide range of tourism destinations and activities available in Nepal. However, the COVID situation had all the plans and expectations all in vain. The country’s tourism industry was totally dismantled and hundreds of thousands of people dependent on this industry were suddenly unemployed.
As the world went into shutdown mode, so did the country and the people. After a couple of years of inactivity, the tourism industry is expected to make the much-needed leap to recover from the past tragedy. It has been a while since the development of vaccines and their successful trials have been done. Different countries have developed a wide range of vaccines and the number of vaccinated people is growing day by day. As the worldwide trend continues to loosen their policies for travel regulations, Nepal is also on the track to follow that trend.
Even though the government of Nepal was unable to come up with its own vaccines, it was able to purchase vaccines from different reliable sources. Apart from that Nepal also received vaccines from different international donation programs including the COVAX program. As the majority of people in Nepal are vaccinated, the number of COVID cases is also going down.
